The history behind the Wheaten coloring is scarce, however research indicates this color was achieved by a painstakingly long selective breeding program with a line of Lemon Cuckoo Marans. They are more rare than Black Copper and many other color varieties, so of course they would be my favorite color. We are proud to have a small breeding flock in the heart of the Willamette Valley, as Oregon doesn't seem to be a hot bed for breeders of this variety. We look forward to watching this variety develop.
Hatching Eggs: Eggs are $4 each. They will only be shipped express. Buyer is to pay shipping. The eggs will be individually wrapped in bubble wrap, then set in packing peanuts in the inner box. That box is then sealed and packed into a second, larger box and surrounded with more packing peanuts to cushion any potential mishandling during shipping. However, due to situations outside of my control (like postal handling and your incubating conditions) hatch rates cannot be guaranteed
Chicks: Chicks are sold straight run for $10 each. or $25 each for sexed pullets, which can be done by feather coloring at about 3-4 weeks old. A minimum of 8 chicks is required when shipping to keep each other warm. There is no minimum when picking up. Chicks will only be shipped within the first 24 hrs after hatching and via USPS Express mail, with insurance. They will be held at the Post Office and require signature for pick-up. You must inspect you package upon pick-up and report any deaths to the post office immediately to start the insurance claim process with them.
